Is it really that hard?

I have been reading, hearing and watching about how some people react to commitment and marriage. They find it horrible! I wonder why they react that way. It scares them and makes them feel like a noose is around their necks. This is really foreign to me. Commitment is something that I value most. But it is something that I am not afraid of. Marriage is the same to me.

I am wondering about this because I was reading Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. The main character, Bella Swan, hyperventilates by just the mere mention of marriage. This series is supposed to be a big hit because it relates to how young adults of this generation. It makes me wonder if marriage is really deplorable for some people considering the rate of marriages over 30 and 40 years of age.

Could someone tell me why some people react horribly to commitment and marriage?

The trick is…

When one is lonely or restless, the trick is to call your friends/buddies and engage them in mindless chat. I tell you, based from experience, this really works. I did this trick so many times in the past already. Always worked for me. Or if you have the money, a trip abroad might do something about it. You can check out reno hotels and book a room at one. I just remembered the invitation my friend in Reno extended to me. Hmm… I might do that a few weeks from now.

Not for everyone

One of the professions that I could not see myself in is sales. I just couldn’t summon enough energy to convince people to buy a product or service. Maybe I can if I put my mind in it. I’m good at convincing but I wonder if I do really care. I admire those sales people who are really good at their job. I know quite a lot of people in sales and every time you hear them narrate their day to day work, my admiration for them increases. A friend of mine works as a medical representative and he travels from one city to another daily just to reach his quota at the end of the month. It is doubly hard for them. Now, if you are looking for sales jobs, better be sure you have the tenacity to follow through your work. Otherwise, you are better off doing another job.

City of Angels

One of my all-time favorite movies is The City of Angels. Nicolas Cage played an angel who fell in love with a mortal played by Meg Ryan. It was one of those movies where the sad ending was justified. And it would disappoint if it ended otherwise.

I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than an eternity without it.

What is your all-time favorite movie?

Have a great week everyone!

Odd feelings settles over me

Odd emotions are doing a roller coaster inside me. I was looking for unique baby gifts for my godchild when melancholy struck me once again. I saw it coming. This melancholy comes when there is something that triggers my yearning for that elusive something. And my godchild did just that. It will go away soon, I know. But as long as I haven’t found that unique baby gift, I doubt this will lift.

Mobile phones as a necessity

Mobile phones have become the easiest and fastest way to communicate with your loved ones nowadays. Here in the country, almost every person has one. I have two mobile phones with me. One is solely used as an ebook reader. But since it is an unlocked phone, I can choose whether to use it with any leading service provider here in the country. The other phone is used as is. I don’t go out of the house without it because it has become a necessity to reach my loved ones, especially my siblings.

What do you think of mobile phones? Has it become a necessity for you as well?

Besieged

Jing is a single mom who has two kids to take care of. She is currently besieged with so many problems and to top it off, she also has to undergo acne treatments because her immediate boss ordered her to do so. She is a sales agent and well, her boss has a point. If she will be facing clients most of the time, it is better to do so with an appealing face. She has one but is covered with acne. Her dermatologist is sure that it is due to the unhealthy eating she has been doing lately. That is of course brought on by her other problems. It is a never ending cycle that I hope she gets out of soon. In times like these, someone with whom you can share your burdens with sounds glorious.

Capture the idea

I always find that inspiration strikes me unexpectedly. Much like what life has been dealing me with lately. So to make sure that I capture every single idea that comes to mind, I make sure I have my notepad with me and at least two pens with me at all times. I remember an inspiration struck me when I was aboard the local jeepney. I just pulled out my notepad and a pen and I was able to capture the inspiration for my next story.
