A long, long time ago, I was once given the position of a finance and admin associate. In simple terms, I was an assistant of the whole office. I was assigned to do the bookkeeping functions as well as the admin assistant functions in the company I was once employed at. It was a daunting task considering the company was a big one in the entertainment industry. I did not mind doing the work meant for three people because I was enjoying it. I was not yet the jaded ex-accountant that I was now.

Vehicle Reimbursement was one of the accounts I handled. The company had two executives that time. The president who was given a hundred grand allowance every month and the Chief Executive Officer which was given an allowance by the head office but part of the total expense of the month was being charged back to us. It was actually one of the most tedious tasks because every end of the month, I was reconciling the president’s expense report and at the same time, reconciling the charge back with the accountant in charge of it from the main office. Tedious I tell you. But it was an enjoyable task all the same because it was very challenging for me.
