Sometimes, love can be destructive. Remember Anna Nicole Smith? The stripper and former Playboy Playmate who became popular because, in 1994, she married the 89-year-old billionaire J. Howard Marshall, one of Texas’s first oil barons. 14 months into their marriage, Marshall died, leaving Smith nothing. But in 1996, after contesting all his 6 wills, a judge ruled she was entitled to $475 million of J. Howard Marshall’s fortune – a decision that earned Smith the severe ire and resentment of Marshall’s surviving heirs and family.
She was represented by Howard K. Stern, who became her boyfriend-companion until her 2007 fatal overdose. Stern professed his devotion to Smith when she died, even fighting for her daughter’s custody. Did you know that Stern is now charged with supplying Smith with thousands of prescription pills, all leading to her death.
Sigh. Love can be destructive. It can even be fatal like what happened to Anna Nicole Smith. Learn to distinguish the good one against the bad. And if your mind or heart is saying that this is a bad kind of love, then bail out and never look back!
